why we’re making primary care available

It’s paramount that our healthcare system has the bandwidth to address the most pressing cases. That’s why, for the time being, we’re offering access to primary care visits through our telehealth platform at cost, for $39. Our goal is to help more people avoid crowds and waiting rooms, while still getting the care and support they may need.

frequently asked questions about primary care

Primary care is available in all US states and Washington DC.
You’ll be evaluated for treatment when you have a primary care visit with Hims. While prescriptions aren’t a guarantee, your provider will determine if a specific medicine is right for you and your symptoms as part of your primary care visit.
There are two costs to keep in mind: The cost of the primary care visit and the cost of any prescription medication, if your provider determines it’s appropriate. The cost of the primary visit won’t be covered by your insurance, and is $39. The cost of the prescription may be covered by your insurance when you pick up the medication at your local pharmacy. Just provide them with your insurance information as you would when picking up any other prescription.
The entire interaction can take place online through your phone or computer. First, you’ll answer some questions about your issue, to help your healthcare provider understand how to best help you. Then, within 24 hours, you’ll get a message back from the provider, and from there you’ll be evaluated for a prescription based on your symptoms and medical information
You should hear back from a healthcare provider on the Hims platform within 24 hours.
If the healthcare provider prescribes a treatment, you’ll be able to select a local pharmacy where you’d like to pick it up. That pharmacy will fill your prescription, and you should pick it up in person when it’s ready.
You should choose primary care when you want to consult with a medical professional about non-emergency health issues like flu symptoms, sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, and rashes. Your healthcare provider will diagnose your symptoms and provide treatment, which may include a prescription.
Yes, providers on the Hims platform are all experienced healthcare professionals licensed in your state and qualified to conduct medical consultations and prescribe medications. They’ll have a conversation with you and evaluate your symptoms, just how you’d interact with a doctor for an in-person primary care visit.
No, there’s no phone call involved. The interaction on our telehealth platform will be handled digitally, either on your phone or from a computer.
We recommend that you call the pharmacy you selected for pick-up to find out when they’ll have it ready for you. Due to technical limitations, we’re not currently able to send you an alert from Hims when it’s ready, but we’ll continue to find ways to make your experience more convenient.
